Sub-station site leases

BLB Utilities services

Project information

Electricity companies have thousands of substation sites located in various locations throughout their operational area.

Some are mounted on poles, some are large sites but the vast majority are the small ones surrounded by close boarded fences.

Often the company will have the freehold title for this site but frequently they are held on leases.

Those on poles might be covered by a wayleave agreement.

Additional information

Some leases are 99 years but many have much shorter terms, 60 years is common but 10 or 15 years have been agreed in previous years too.

If you have a development site and the lease has expired there may be options open to you that you are unaware of.

BLB Utilities can manage situations where you might want to discuss alternatives to ensure that the electrical apparatus doesn’t interfere with your proposals.
